Moodle 3: Activities & Resources: External Tools: LSU Libraries Research Guides

  

A research guide is an organized list of resources related to a certain topic.


To Add the LSU Libraries Research Guides External Tool:

1. Login to Moodle and open your desired course.

2. Click the Edit button at the top right of the Moodle page.

3. Select the Add an activity or resource link in your given topic.

PLEASE NOTE: There are two different ways to complete the next step depending on which view you are in. If you see two separate drop-down boxes, click Add an activity and select External Tool. For more information about this option, view Activity Chooser Options.


4. In the window that appears, select External tool at the left sidebar.

5. Enter a name for the resource and then select LSU Libraries Research Guides from the Preconfigured tool dropdown menu. All other fields are optional.

6. Click Save and display at the right of the floating gray box when finished.

To use the LSU Libraries Research Guides External Tool:

The new resource page will display several LSU Library resources and information, and a link to this page will now appear on every individual course page. There is an A to Z Database List, Library Hours, and a Book a Research Consultation option that allows you to consult Subject Specialists. There may be more resources depending on the course you are in when you view the resource page.
