Moodle 3: Activities & Resources: Attendance Settings

General Settings:

In the General settings, you can change the default name of the Attendance activity.

Grade Settings:

If the instructor does NOT want the Attendace in the gradebook, change the Type to "None." Otherwise, keep it as a Point and edit the Maximum grade. The grade category can also be selected here.

NOTE: Instructors do NOT need to calculate how many points each class session should be. Moodle will calculate the the grade and scale it to reflect the maximum grade. (For example, if Attendance is worth 100 points, and there are 40 class sessions, a student who was 'present' 80% of the time will receive an 80/100 in the gradebook.)

Common Module Settings:

These settings specify the visibility of the Attendance activity for students (Hide/Show), and the group mode and grouping can be designated.

Restrict Access Settings:

Attendance can be restricted based upon a date, group, activity completion of another activity/resource in the course, etc.

NOTE: If more than one restriction is added, students must meet EACH of the requirements before the resource becomes available.

Activity Completion Settings:

By default, students can manually mark the assignment as complete, but an instructor can change this to be required. If required, the students can be marked complete by viewing the acitivy, receiving a grade, and/or submitting the assignment.

Tags are keywords that can be added to an activity or resource.
