Student Moodle Course FAQs

Moodle Courses Are Not Visible

Faculty

By default, Moodle courses are created each semester 30 days prior to the first day of class and students are enrolled into the course 14 days prior to the first day of class. Instructors can change the timeframe of these processes, up to a limit of 60-days prior to the first day of class.

The Availability setting determines whether or not the students enrolled in the course can view the course. The default setting is "Not Available to Students". Students are not allowed to see the course unless this setting is changed to "Available to Students". For more information, please see Moodle: Make a Course Available to Students.

Students

When adding a course via Schedule Request, you will not be able to view the course in Moodle immediately (same day) as courses will process overnight. Please check Moodle the next day to view the course or contact your instructor to re-process the Moodle course manually.

Only the instructor of record listed on the mainframe or in some cases the course TA (teaching assistant) can make this change. Please contact the instructor or TA of that course for further assistance.

Moodle Course(s) From Previous Semester Still Visible

It is not possible to hide courses in Moodle, however you may "favorite" courses to alter the order your courses appear.

If you would like to have an old course removed, please contact the instructor of that course to make this change.

Update/Remove Moodle Photo (Picture)

Photos cannot currently be removed or replaced. The LSU Tiger Card system is not properly naming and/or transmitting photos to the Moodle system. We are working toward allowing students the ability to upload their own photos to Moodle as a replacement for the malfunctioning system.
