Upload Files Within A Moodle Course

Files can be uploaded within a section (week or topic) within a Moodle course. These files can be accessed by your students when they click the link to the file resource.

Upload a File

1. Click the Edit button in the upper right side of your screen.

2. The easiest method to add a file into a course is to drag and drop a file directly into the content area (section). You can drag and drop multiple files at the same time if needed. 

  • NOTE: The drag and drop option may not be available when using Internet Explorer.

3. Another option is to add a file resource by clicking on the Add an activity or resource link within a section. Select File and click Add.

4. Fill in the Name field. (This text will appear as the link to the file on your course front page.)

5. Click the Add button in the Content area to open the File Picker window. Otherwise, you can drag and drop the file into the designated area and skip to step 8.

6. Click the Choose File button.

7. Click on the Browse... button to search for the file on your computer.

8. After you have selected the file, click on the Upload this file button.

9. Click on the Save and return to course button at the bottom of the page.
