Moodle: How to Import All Materials into a Course

Importing All Materials allows the instructor to import all of the content from another Moodle course into a current course without clearing the content that already exists there. If you are importing content from a Blueprint Course, or a course in which you made recent changes, be sure to first make a backup of the course before importing the content. For instructions, visit Moodle: How to Backup a Course.

If you wish to override all content within your current course and start from scratch, visit Moodle: How to Overwrite a Course. If you wish to manually select which content should be imported, visit Moodle: Selective Import Content From Other Moodle Courses.

For additional information, please visit Moodle: Ways to Restore or Import Content into a Course.

  • Note: If you do not see a backup listed for the course you would like to import from, you may need to manually backup that course (see Moodle: How to Backup a Course for instructions).

  1. Click Continue to proceed.
  • Note: If you notice any sections (topics/weeks) missing after importing materials, you may need to add additional sections to your course. Simply click the Create a new section link located near the bottom of the Contents sidebar to add a new section. Repeat as many times as needed for all of your content to appear.
